A Fun New Venture

I have found myself to be something of an absent minded person, often getting distracted by the newest idea that pops into my head as to what I would like to be when I grow up. I always keep coming back to entertainment. Whether that is through my covers, my show, my vlogs, my blog, of the newest thing that I have started.

I have joined forces with another few guys to create a new and exciting YouTube channel called ACoG. It’s the AUstralian Collective of Gamers, and it’s basically an excuse for me to learn how to film myself and other guys playing video games, and mash them together to make something entertaining. I’ll chuck a link to the channel somewhere down the bottom of this post.

I enjoy entertaining people. It doesn’t matter to me if it’s a few people or the entire world, I just like to know that people enjoy the things that I create and find the funny side of life through what I do.

I understand that gaming videos are not everyone’s cup of tea, but I enjoy filming them, and editing them together. And hopefully, one day, I can find my audience!

Imagine this…

Something as simple as clouds can make your whole day better…

Do you ever worry, as an adult, that you are losing some aspects of your imagination. I think, as we get older, that our imagination, if not used correctly, starts to disappear. Sure we use it for things like imagining the worst case scenario of any given situation but as the bills mount and as the responsibilities weigh heavily, we seem to forget how amazing the human brain and its imaginative capabilities are.

A few weeks ago my kids and I went out and we bought a soccer ball. We took it to our local park and after playing for ages and ages (or, if you must know, a very unfit 10 minutes) we lay down on the grass in the shade. I remember as a kid, lying down on our trampoline at home and finding all different things in the clouds. Animals and buildings, faces and objects. Looking up at the clouds this time, I saw… stratocumulus forms. That is, until my kids started seeing things.

“Look, a dinosaur!”

“That one looks like a baby meerkat”

“Hey, over there! Poop!”

Granted, that last one was me but I was doing it! I was using my imagination to see things in the clouds!

A short time after that, I was playing D&D with my wife, my sister-in-law and my brother-in-law, and I could feel the imagination stirring. It was like that cloud experience showed me that there was still something there, still a working system that could create new worlds and I was excited to see where that could take me. We played long into the night using our joint imagination to create a story, (albeit a story based on peeing on stuff and being accidentally racially insensitive to gnomes). I can’t wait to continue to find uses for an imagination that I feel is coming back in full force!

As adults, we sometimes forget to use our imaginations for fun instead of fear. If every time we imagine something, it’s imagined with fear, it teaches us to fear our imagination, and that is definitely something that we shouldn’t do! Sometimes we just need to lie down on the grass and experience the awe-inspiring world around us to kick start our imaginations again. Of course, sometimes it’s better to have kids around to teach you a better way to view the world too!

FIRST AND FORMOST, A FORAY FOR A FORTÈ

Well that was a mouthful.

Welcome to my new blog. I have done this a few times on and off, always for different reasons… and this time is no different! I wanted to find a way to publicly publish me, and WordPress was another platform that I hadn’t leapt into yet!

Why would we want to read about you? I hear you ask. Well that’s a quaint question, querier from the quiet queue of quality quandidates! The short answer is: You probably don’t. Ultimately, WordPress is a platform designed for a range of media, which is what I produce. If you’ve enjoyed my YouTube channel, my Instagram posts, my Twitter, Tumblr or blogs in the past, or my writing in this here post, stick around, coz it’s just going to be more of that. Alternatively, if my productions haven’t piqued a progressive pleasure in my postings, please pleasanty and presently part as you will probably be pained by my persistence and prevalence in producing similar posts.

And with that, I will say that my WordPress is going to be a constantly evolving and changing step into my every day life, including frustratingly unfinished stories, my views on the world of tech and what it will mean for the world, and disgusting romanticisms aimed almost exclusively at either my beuatiful wife or Zac Efron.

Hope you enjoy!
